YourPCM Version 2 Is Coming Along Nicely!CREATED BY THE THE ONE, THE ONLY, STEFFI LEWIS I do love a good development project. After the success of sBlogIt! I've turned my attention to a completely new version of YourPCM based on the design framework I created for my new AI-driven blogging platform ... Writing beautiful code, Digital poetry in motion, Elegant simple and clean YourPCM v1 was created during the pandemic and came out of a need to track 121s with my BNI chapter colleagues, as well as giving my mind something to do during lockdown. It worked beautifully and gave me a fantastic SaaS database product. YourPCM has been a great success! After growing my subscriber base of small business owners across the United Kingdom, I needed to 'shoehorn' tweaks and changes into the CRM to enhance the functionality and create the new features they requested. Every coder will know shoehorning can cause their product to get a bit clunky. Things like multi-user and advanced sectioning dramatically affected the performance of the underlying core code. So once sBlogIt! was finished and out there I decided a new version of YourPCM was needed and it turns out, I'm doing a complete rewrite. I'm cool with that as coding is my happy place, so I decided to take all the features and ideas I'd added post-publication of the original CRM and build them in from the ground up. Smaller, faster, better baby!Being able to rewrite the entire codebase means I can create a smaller platform that's faster and filled with some new ideas I've been mulling over in the past few months. For example, there is no simple or advanced sectioning now, just pick the sections you want for your contact and away you go. You can have unlimited sections and you can colour-code them and reorder them as you see fit. Additionally, it's multi-user from the get-go, so the administrator can specify which features each user can access. That was requested multiple times. And we now have an advanced Custom Email and Custom SMS system where users can tag a bunch of contacts and send them a Custom Email or even a custom SMS text message, though I stress that the Custom Emails don't track (you need the mailer system for that) and the Custom SMSs should only be used for nudges and reminders and not as a marketing tool. The actual database part of YourPCM v2 is very nearly finished!I've got some extra functionality I'm going to add in over the next few weeks, but we're certainly getting there. Things like moving contacts, import/export and a few other little functions need adding and I want to completely overhaul the subscription system so that instead of having a number of fixed subscriptions, users can pick and choose from a menu of features and have the system set up the new subscription immediately and turn on/off different features. Also, the free trial will be extended to 30 days and the onboarding process needs an overhaul. I want to add a Churn countdown so if people leave, it counts them down to the last possible moment and then shuts down their copy of YourPCM. Not that I have a high churn rate, just a necessary feature I need to automate. YourPCM v2 is going to be an outstanding product. Once I've got all the above finished, I can turn my attention to the Discovery Tool and the Mailer system as they need an overhaul too. But a massive new feature will be drip email! It's been requested a number of times, but was not something I could add to the existing mailers system. I've been mulling this over and I can do it relatively easily, but it's going to take a lot of time to create, so I think it'll be added as a completely new module once I've released YourPCM v2 as a finished product and moved all my existing subscribers over to the new platform. So busy, busy. I'm still estimating a 1st January switchover from YourPCM v1 to YourPCM v2 for all of my existing subscribers. Oh, that upgrade tool is going to be one complex beasty, but if I can move everyone over Christmas 2024 there'll be limited disruption. I love it when I'm in full flow and my brain is firing on all cylinders. And I love writing beautiful code so I feel blessed that I get to do it every day. More soon! ❤️ Until next time ...
