Effective online marketing takes time and commitment, but for any small business who wants to be successful, it really is a complete no brainer!

Effective online marketing takes time and commitment, but for any small business who wants to be successful, it really is a complete no brainer!

The effort you put in will build trust and authority with people in your business networks, deepen relationships with your customers and clients, and even convince prospects that you are the right person to do business with when they're ready to buy.

There are five parts to any good online marketing solution:

  1. Blog regularly

This proves you've got the right knowledge, skills and experience to help, and are a leader in your own industry. You're the best at what you do so let people know about it. Why be shy?

  2. Share great content on social media

Every day, you should be sharing industry news, blog posts (not just your own), inspirational stuff, the odd sales messages, and client testimonials. This keeps you and your brand right in front of people you're connected to. You have your finger on the pulse of your own industry, right?

  3. Send out a weekly email newsletter

That's because the people on your email list are interested in what you have to say, aren't they? They wouldn't have subscribed otherwise! Share your latest blog post with them and give them titbits of useful advice to keep them interested. You can also include a subtle call to action if you'd like?

  4. Generate new leads

A combination of unique landing pages, custom phone numbers, pay per click ads on Google and social ads on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are going to get your email pinging and your phone ringing. You'd like that, yes?

  5. Engage with people

Social media is about being sociable! You'd call back someone who left a voicemail or reply to an email when you've got time, so if someone makes the effort to comment on something you've shared, then they deserve a reply, don't they?

Of course, there is a sixth part to your online marketing strategy that isn't actually online! You know what I mean, don't you?

"Getting out there and actually meeting people face-to-face!"

Networking, one2ones, building relationships, deepening trust; people who meet you out in the real world will check you out online to see if you're telling the truth about yourself!

If you want those all important word-of-mouth recommendations, great testimonials and new business referrals, you need to be doing all these things - consistently - to effectively market your small business online!

Love, light and logic ...
